Magnesium Fluoride Borate Glasses for Low Phonon Energy

Abstract An oxyflouroborate glass series of composition 75B 2 O 3 -5Al –(20-x) Li O–xMgF (where x = 0, 5, 10, and 15 mol.%) was prepared using the normal melt-quenching technique. The physical properties (density, molar volume, different optical behaviors) system were investigated via techniques discussed with substitution for MgF . Also, absorption coefficient, both direct indirect energy gaps, exciton gap studied. Furthermore, IR spectroscopy used as a structural probe nearest-neighbor environment in network. results elucidate that replacement leads to blueshift cutoff decrease gap. More liberation Mg +2 ions produces more localized states during transition, which decreases values band energy. addition has clear impact on lowering phonon energy, makes this promising fiber amplifiers operate at certain telecommunications wavelength bands upconversion lasers. These show capability be applicable amplifier laser components.
